Volunteer at the Shelter

The Tuscarawas County Humane Society Shelter is always in need of volunteers. Volunteers help walk animals, clean dog kennels, clean the cat room, feed and water, and simply play with the animals. There is always something to do for volunteers of all ages, however we ask that volunteers younger than 16 years old be accompanied by a guardian.

TCHS does not have a formal volunteer scheduling process. Volunteers are welcome to come in during any of our regular hours.

Dog Shelter Volunteer Hours:
Monday - Friday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Cat Shelter Volunteer Hours:
Seven Days: 8:30 am - 11:00 am
Additional Hours: Tuesday: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm; Sunday: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

I understand I am to report dog character traits to shelter staff as there are many compelling and obvious reasons why this information is important to shelter staff and prospective adoptive owners. I further understand that I am expected to maintain confidentiality to the events at the shelter, including but not limited to, animal surrender, redemptions, euthanasia decisions, discipline, etc. Failure on my part to comply with such policies and procedures and confidentiality may result in me being removed from my community service work.
